So I whipped 'em out. I whipped out the ol' Preiser HO 1:87s and no that's not Freddy Mercury holding a baby. I've been "working" all morning and I feel I'm at a fine enough place to share. Don't judge me just yet though, I'm using my iphone camera - I'll use the good one soon. and there's way more in store with the minis. One last thing, don't judge me for my dirty keyboard. |

The latest project that I worked on was for a fundraiser called "We're GHANA Rock" It was put on by a group of women that are going to help build a school in Ghana. They raised $6,500.00 last Wednesday night and are still looking for donations. You can donate at www.goinggoingghana.com |

Like most people I prefer to listen to music that I enjoy. I recently got to not only listen but to look at a band that I REALLY enjoy. That band's name is Tokyo Police Club and making me rock out is their game. This past Saturday I entered the Kool Haus with only two things on my mind rock out to some TPC and Andy Bernard's fashion sense. Check out my new t-shirtI was shocked to find myself rocking out to the second opener, Two Door Cinema Club who I had already listened to and wasn't into at all. I guess there's something to be said about hearing a band live because this time it clicked and I liked what I heard. Anyway, they killed it and left me feeling pleasantly rocked. Next up, TPC. We figured out at dinner while using our digits that we had seen TPC 4 times and #5 turned out to be just as good as all the rest. I would like to mention that we were distracted when we witnessed an assault on a journalist that I unsuccessfully tried to break up. I still have no idea why it happened and I don't think I ever will. The very best part though was The Strokes cover that TPC invited Two Door Cinema Club on stage for. Also, for the record, I too think it's weird that they both have the word 'club' in their name and I wanted you to know that. I also want to apologize for posting about Tokyo Police Club so often. |

I'm talking websites people! There are 3 websites that I visit on the daily and every morning (well 4 including the horrible horrible facebook.) The first website is Design*Sponge its focus is interior design which I've had a passion for since Marilyn Denis hosted CityLine when I was a tiny person. I like Design*Sponge for their aesthetic, their colour pallets are dreamy but they mostly just inspire me to make things equally as dreamy. The second website that I visit when I wake outta bed is ChangeTheThought, specifically the graphic design section(obvi) but there are many many many sections that may tickle your fancy. ChangeTheThought isn't updated as regularly as Design*Sponge but it's just as inspiring and fun to look at. The look and feel is nothing like Design*Sponge but It makes my mornings all the more interesting. The third website that I visit again "on the daily" is Design Edge Canada because I'm not working as a full time designer and well, I'd like to. Their job section is the very best for local jobs here in the Tdot, it doesn't have 1million job postings but it's updated regularly and I know a couple people who have used that site and have gotten interviews and then real jobs. I may not be one of those people but I will keep trying until I am. Well there you have it, those are my favourites. Feel free to share with me your "on the daily" picks via twitter @steph_simms |

I love the band Tokyo Police Club and clearly I love to design so when my boyfriend brought this contest to my attention I just had to participate. I entered this design: here's hoping I get noticed! I'll let you know how it goes or maybe I won't. |

But not really, I worked this weekend at the Hospital and as I was setting up a room I looked out the window and noticed the Santa Clause parade was just outside, I even had a pretty good view. I called in some nurses and we watched for a bit. |

Last night something happened. It was only my second time but it felt so right. Was it wrong? Maybe. Was it everything that I had hoped for? Definitely. Yesterday I skyped a girl, she's sort-of my bestie and we watched a show about superheros AT THE SAME TIME! This show wasn't " Heroes" or " Lois & Clark" It's " MISFITS" and it's jolly good. If you can get your hands on season1, it could be a great thing. The music is terrific, the writing is superb and the main character is a dreamboat in the terribly-mean-while-still-being-funny kind of way. Which is my personal fav. It's really a stellar program. More about the experience, like I said it was only my second time skyping, the only other time was for a professional interview. Scary right? Wrong, me being the best at "get 'er done" and "fake it till you make it" I was a pro-star and got a real live interview. So that was my first time, my second time was much more enjoyable. Last season I usually watched MISFITS alone.. in my room... with no one to talk to.. sadface. but this time, it was immediate banter, I didn't have to wait to talk to anyone. Changed my life. it was TARA-ific. Ps. happy birthday babe Skype me baby steph_simms ! |

was in the mood to change my desktop background and found this site. It's got a great collection of seamless patterns among other useful things, I suggest you take a gander. I also wanted to share with you a website where you can have your own fabric printed. Pretty cool eh? I was thinking about getting this pattern I made into a fabric. |

So It was awesome. Milton Glaser is still the best and brightest. He's inspired me to not only work but create for myself. I've decided I'm going to start painting and if its any good I might even share it with yous dudes. Before the film started, RGD had wicked opening credits. Took a bunch of shots to show you. ps. doesn't The Bloor Cinema have wicked chevrons? |

Milton Glaser is easily my favorite designer. When I was in school I was asked to recreate a famous poster only using the designer as the subject, I chose Mr. Glaser. The original subject was Bob Dylan.Today me and a friend are going to Bloor Cinema in Toronto to see a film called "To Inform & Delight". Meet me back here tonight, I'll tell you what was really good. |
